R/V Mirai: Waterspout again

Today we entered Indian Ocean, passing by the northern tip of Sumatra Island.

Just before that, we witnessed a waterspout. It was very close to the vessel (several kilometers, I guess). Unfortunately quick-look images of radar did not provide clear signal, but close inspection of raw data may enable us to find something.

I, the cheif scientist of pre-YMC cruise in 2015, remember that we witnessed a lot of waterspout off Bengkulu. The chance in today make me exciting to expect the similar chance again during the stationary observation period when we can obtain further detailed data, including frequent radiosonde observation.
